HEALED

Yup, Jesus healed me!!!!!  I had been suffering for about 2 months from a hormonal imbalance which was causing me to bleed constantly.  No fun at all!!!!  Nestor and Rosa Gomez were here with our staff for our annual spiritual retreat.  I had been praying for quite some time that God would bring healing.  I wasn't sure what to expect going into our retreat but i didn't want to get my hopes up too high just to have them unfulfilled.  But I also wanted to ask in faith for what i needed.  So in the days leading up to the retreat, God was showing me through his word the ways in which Jesus healed.  I feel like often times we all think that if we just have enough faith we can be healed and if we are not healed it is then some negative reflection on our "faith-o-meter".  Well interestingly enough, many times when Jesus would heal it would be in response to people pleading for him to have mercy on them.  Obviously they had faith as well, but never did Jesus stop and ask for their certificate of faith or some proof that they believed in him.  So i began to ask God to have mercy on me!  Wed. morning during the retreat we had a time of intercession and as i am praying, i ask God to send someone to pray for me as a sign that He does want to heal me.  Sure enough about a minute later my boss, Lowell, comes over and lays hands on me and begins to pray and proclaim healing in my body and that all the thing in my body would come into alignment with the way God created them to function.  I was so amazed, grateful, awestruck, and joyful.  So then the morning talk was being given by Rosa and as she started, I could just sense that this message was for me.  So needless to say i was not completely shocked when she announced she would be teaching out of the story in Luke 8: 43-48, the woman with the issue of blood.  I almost started crying right there in my seat.  I knew this was for me and that healing was coming.  After she finished her message the called for those who wanted healing to stand.  I didn't hesitate!!!  They laid hands on us and prayed over us.  There was no magic show, no one fell over, i didn't even feel some sort of warm sensation in my body, but i knew in my spirit i was whole!!!  PRAISE THE LORD!!!  Thanks to all of you who have been praying with me!!!  Rejoice with me in what the Lord has done!!!

HAITI

I know i am way long over due for an update!!!

A week ago my friend Josie and I packed our bags and headed to Haiti for a couple of days.  Our purpose was to help a missionary kid with special needs, named Jaden.  Josie had been to Haiti a month earlier with her ministry (Kids Alive) to do vaccinations and health care at their orphanage and school.  While there she met Jaden's parents, also Kids Alive missionaries.  So she got back to the DR and called me to see if i would be willing to help.  I said yes and began to get the  supplies donated that i would need to help my new friend.  So a week ago we set out.  I wasn't sure quite what to expect when we crossed over into Haiti.  I had heard lots of stories about how different the landscape is.  I had also heard a lot of stories about witch doctors and voodoo.  What impacted me the most was the obvious poverty.  In places, houses were made of twigs and mud.  In the cities houses were made of concrete but very few of them were finished with windows and doors giving the city a "war zone" kind of feel.  It was so very different that the DR.

We arrived and had a chance to see part of the city as we drove through on our way to the missionary's home.  One we arrived at their home, we met all the kids.  All 5 of them!!!  We had such a good time!!  I was able to work with Jaden, fitting him with and AFO for his left foot and helping his mom figure out activities to increase his attention span.  It was a great couple of day, but as we arrived back home i found myself  very grateful to live on this side of the island.

Wow 2 months since i've updated this thing!  Shocking!!!  For those who look for more regular updates, my apologies...for everyone else...well i guess you weren't missing it, so you are none the worse for wear!

I came back to the DR on Jan 20th after a wonderful time at home in the states.  I visited friends in IN and then went home to AR where i spent most of my time except for family christmas and a quick trip to see geidlbots in OK (hey, did you find some extra sunglasses?)  I had the chance to share at a couple of churches and even speak to a Bible study group at my high school, all of which i really enjoyed, much to my amazement.  I never really enjoyed public speaking when it was forced upon me, but now i think i feel like i have something to talk about, so i like it more!

I have not even been home for 4 weeks and life has been hectic. We welcomed the first team of the new year 4 days after i arrived back.  The day the team left, my roommate and i moved into a 3 bedroom apartment with another new roommate. I have also taken on learning a bit about speech therapy to help out some kids at another school here in town as well as all of the kids at the special needs school.  i understand now why in all the places i have ever worked the speech therapists way out numbered everyone else!

I think that's the highlights!!!  I have started using a new program for my updates, and i haven't figured out how to paste it onto xanga yet, so if you don't receive the updates by email and want to, let me know and i will add you to the list!
